This chapter analyzes early modern Spanish copies of Roman icons to understand the ways in which reproductions of sacred images acquired new identities.

 “Copias de imágenes sagradas romanas en Granada: Algunas notas sobre las Vírgenes del Popolo y los retratos de san Pedro y san Pablo” is included in La pintura italiana en Granada: artistas y coleccionistas, originales y copias, ed. by David García Cueto, Granada: Editorial Universidad de Granada, 2019, pp. 71-82. This collection of essays presents some of the results of COPIMONARCH, a research project directed by David García Cueto and funded by the Spanish Research Foundation that took place between 2015 and 2018.

The book launch took place in Granada, the 22 October 2019.
